About Notre-Dame de la Garde
Rising 162 metres above the Mediterranean city of Marseille, 'La Bonne Mère' (the Good Mother) has watched over sailors and citizens since the 13th century. The Neo-Byzantine basilica and its golden statue of the Virgin are visible from all over the city and far out to sea.
