Day 2: Arrive Munich
Arrive in Bavaria's capital and settle in; gentle orientation of the old city and its great churches.
Opening Mass / devotional service in a Munich church.
Day 3: Munich & Marian Bavaria
The Frauenkirche and Marienplatz, and the great pilgrimage church of Altötting — Bavaria's 'heart', home of the Black Madonna and centuries of devotion. A full day.
Mass at the shrine of Altötting; pray the rosary in the chapel.
Day 4: Bavarian shrines & to Oberammergau
The Wieskirche, a UNESCO rococo pilgrimage church in the alpine meadows, then on to the village of Oberammergau. Settle ahead of the play.
Prayer at the Wieskirche; evening preparation and reflection for the Passion Play.
Day 5: The Passion Play, Oberammergau
The centrepiece: the Passion Play unfolds across an afternoon and evening (with a dinner interval), a five-hour meditation on Christ's suffering, death and resurrection performed by the whole village. The morning is free for the village and woodcarving heritage.
The Passion Play itself as an act of worship; quiet reflection on the Passion afterward.
Day 6: Tyrol & Innsbruck
Cross into Austria to Innsbruck amid the Alps — the imperial old town and its cathedral — with alpine scenery throughout. A gentler day after the play.
Mass at Innsbruck Cathedral; gratitude reflection.
Day 7: King Ludwig's castles & lakes
The fairytale castle of Neuschwanstein and the alpine lakes, balancing devotion with Bavaria's romantic landscapes. A scenic, restful day.
Midday prayer in an alpine chapel.
Day 8: Salzburg
The city of Mozart and baroque churches — the cathedral, the abbey of St Peter, and the hilltop fortress. A final cultural-and-spiritual day.
Mass at Salzburg Cathedral; thanksgiving for the pilgrimage.
Day 9: Depart from Munich / Salzburg
Morning transfer to the airport for the journey home.
Closing blessing for the road home.
