The ancient seat of the Archbishop of Canterbury, primatial see of the Church of England, and the spiritual home of the worldwide Anglican Communion of 85 million faithful. A UNESCO World Heritage Site, Canterbury has drawn pilgrims since the martyrdom of Thomas Becket in 1170, immortalised in Chaucer's Canterbury Tales.
