"The most visited Catholic shrine in the world"

About Basilica of Our Lady of Guadalupe

The most visited Catholic pilgrimage site on earth, drawing over 20 million pilgrims annually. In 1531, the Virgin Mary appeared to Juan Diego on Tepeyac Hill, leaving her image miraculously imprinted on his tilma (cloak). The image, still displayed in the modern basilica, shows no signs of natural explanation after nearly 500 years.
